Why Should Elliot Spitzer Resign?

I am writing this to defend my govenor, Elliot Spitzer. I am not a democrat, but Spitzer is the duly elected governor of the state, and I must admit I am shocked at the events of late. I am not shocked by his behavior. I am shocked by those who are shocked by his behavior. After all he is merely doing what he was elected to do. He is continuing to build the legacy of the democratic party.

Democrats are often sanctimonious and quick to point out every foible of Republicans; unfortunately many are so narcissistic that they believe once elected the rules only apply to Republicans. How can I make such an audacious claim?

Can you say Mary Jo Kopeckne, or Adam Clayton Powell? Ever heard of The Keeting Six? What about Paula Jones, Jenniffer Flowers, Juanita Broderick, Kathleen Willie, or Monica Lewinskey? What about thousands of dollars in refrigerators? Yes I know we Republicans have our black sheep. Our Top Gun, Duke Cunningham, is in a federal prison. But what Republican can get away with saying "it's my personal life; it is no body's business." Just ask Bernie Kerik.

I really believe that the democratic party should stand with Spitzer. After all who should be forced to leave office because of sex. No body can really be expected to be faithful to their spouses? If a former president could regularly exploit women while he was in the White House, and claim it was no one's business , who cares what one governor does with his own money (or the tax payer's) while traveling in Washington. (Maybe he can save his marriage by supporting his wife in a future political bid). I would like to propose that the DNC raise a defense fund for Spitzer.

Why would any body be surprised? This is the party of narcissism. They worship themselves and their power above their families, their country. (What did you say about yellow cake uranium?) What difference does it make if a woman drowned? Who cares if the President can't keep his hands off female genitalia? If a congressman in a devastated district takes money intended to help the poor of his district and hides it in his refrigerator, it can be excused because he like the members of his district are exploited victims of slavery and of Republican oppression. (Which party ended the civil war, which party rallied behind a democratic President to pass the Civil Right act?) Why should the leaders of a party that has spent two generations building a dependent, victimized culture be expected to produce anything other than narcissistic fools?
But Republicans are held to a higher standard. A President named Nixon was driven from office because of all things he was a narcissist who abuses power. Imagine that! The Vice President's chief of staff is convicted of purgery because he lied to a reporter about a non-crime. Some people call for the President's impeachment because he had the audacity to preserve protect and defend the constitution of the United States while ignoring the U.N. to whom he had no legal or moral obligation whatsoever. And when there is a rumor about our nominee, a man with whom I don't always agee but whose integrity is impeccable, is the victim of rumors he is made to defend himself.

The next time Mc Cain is the victim of malicious journalism I think he should reach across the aisle. He should work to bring democrats and Republicans together by adopting some of their principles. He should say my "private life is my own business. I'm a Vietnam vet elected by the people. I have earned the privilege of living in absolute uxoriousness. No body has the right to question me. I spent five years in a torturous prison camp. I was a victim. I have an excuse. I deserve a pass. What I need is for the people and the government to be nice to me and give me some slack after all I deserve it, and if you elect me I will make you all the same kind of weak pitiful victims."

It makes a lot of sense. It was a Republican President who ended slavery. It was a Republican President who fought the abuses of the tycoons in the 19th century, and went to war against the oppressive Barbary pirates. It was the Republican leadership in Congress who stood against the Dixie democrats to pass the Civil Rights Acts and the Voting Rights Act. It was a democratic president who put an entire ethnic group in concentration camps because he was sure that to be of Japanese descent bread disloyalty to America.

What do we expect of Elliot Spitzer? I expect a democrat to act like a democrat-- narcissistic with no morality. So therefore, I defend his right to stay in office and exploit the people for his own purposes?

I also want to see people continue to hold Republicans to a higher standard. I am not surprised that people are shocked when their is an implication of immoral behavior on the part of McCain. I am not upset that people expected more of the Republican leadership in the last Congress and threw them out when they were no better than the other guys. We expect Republicans to act like Republicans and to defend their legacy. The bad guys of either party like Duke Cunningham and Larry Craig should go, be forced out of office or indicted.

Which legacy do you want to build on for your children. The legacy of responsible liberty, or the legacy of narcissistic socialism. We can be different. Yes we can. What is the change you hope for? Who do you really want running this country?
