Should a Christian atend a Gay Couple"s Wedding Ceremony

What do you do if a close family member or a co-worker with whom you have shared the gospel, and who understands that you live by biblical ethics, invites you to their marriage ceremony where they are marrying their same sex or transgender partner? They know you think homosexuality is sin, and that you believe marriage us reserved for heterosexual union, but they are still friendly with you. Do you risk the relationship by renouncing he wedding? Most Christians I know say that attendance at the wedding puts one in the position of being "a partner " in the marriage, making us enablers and supporters of egregious sin in direct disobedience to God's word. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the l...

Outsider Candidates are GOP's Last Best Hope

I am not a Trump supporter, at least not yet. If the decision were mine alone I would give the nomination to another candidate; on the other hand, neither am I one who is wringing my hands waiting for him to drop out of the race. If Trump gets the nomination I will vote for him. We could do a lot worse. Trump is the healthiest thing for the party since the nomination of Teddy Roosevelt.  It is becoming more and more evident to me that Trump may actually be the nominee. I agree with much of what Trump says. I  like most of what he says, and I love the way he says it. It is about time someone told the truth. The one thing that distinguishes Trump and the outsider candidates, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, is that they understand  that the fundamental quality of leadership is credibility.  I would vote for any one of them in a heartbeat over any of the democrats or the moderate Republicans like Bush, Christie, Pitaki, Gilmore and Kaisich, or the amnesty advocates like R...

Can the Gay Marriage Decision Be Reversed

The Supreme Court of the United States has a history of unjust, unconstitutional or political decisions. It has been the tool liberals have used for accomplishing their agenda, which cannot pass either through direct vote or legislation for most of this century. The Gay marriage decision exemplifies liberalism's use of  the courts to advance its unpopular agenda. Evey time Gay marriage has been put to a vote (as recently as 2014) even the most liberal states have rejected it. The recent OBERGEFELL ET AL. v. HODGES, DIRECTOR, OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, ET Al.,           upheld the legality of same sex  marriage in all 50 states and US territories. The decision created "a right to dignity" protected by the 14th Amendement, and nullified the first, ninth and tenth amendments.

Gay Marriage: What Now?

After last Friday's ruling by the US Supreme Court making gay marriage the law of the land there have been many calls for action from evangelical Christians.  Many have expressed surprise disappointment and fear. Personally I was unmoved by the decision as it was exactly what I expected from this court. I have predicted that  the court was poised to make this decision  and have clearly stated that gay marriage stands in opposition to Christian teaching and will destroy our culture. It is now obvious that we live in a Post-Christian nation. Not only was marriage re-defined by the court so was religious liberty . Some conservative politicians are proposing legislation and constitutional amendments to either reverse the affects of the ruling or expressing there angst about it. Church leaders are warning of inevitable persecution. There is little hope for reversal of this decision through politics or civil disobedience. This post on  Samson's Jawbone will...

The Fuss About Gay Marriage is about the Children

Image
Country and western singing icon and outspoken Christian Cary Underwood was recently criticized in on-line posts for her support of gay marriage. In an interview she said "any two people who love each other ought to be able to get married." While I disagree with Miss Underwood, I can appreciate how she comes to her conclusion. The church has neglected to teach a biblical view of human sexuality and marriage, and many millennial Christians would say much the same thing if asked. One of the reasons the courts have opened the way for gay marriage is that the Christian church has failed to model or to teach biblical marriage.  Some churches have even asserted that loving people the way Christ loves requires that we open the way for gays to marry. The Roman Catholic Church is considering a more open position on homosexuality. Miss Underwood's statement reveals a  misunderstanding of  the role of love and romance in marriage. The church needs to distinguish between Christi...
