Should Christians join the Occupiers?

A sidebar running below a cable news show recently asked "Would Jesus Be an Occupier?" Anyone who understands Jesus teaching understands that he did not share the values of the Occupiers. Let's compare what the occupiers are advocating with Jesus' teaching and that of his earliest followers. It is hard to determine exactly what the Occupiers are advocating, except they are against Wall Street "greed." Which they believe was represented by AIG and Morgan Stern and other companies that got bailouts as a result of the housing market collapse of 2007. What they do not understand is that Congress created organizations like Freddie Mae and Fannie Mac and required banks to make bad loans. The reason the companies asked for Federal money was that they were implementing Federal banking policy and believed the tax payers should bail them out. This is not to say I agree the bailouts were appropriate see AIG It May Be Time for a Tea Party . I advocated that the economy...

Tea-partiers Understand Wealth Distribution better than Wall Street Protestors

Does it strike you at all strange that those who excoriated the Tea Party movement are embracing the Wall Street protestors, while comparing them to each other? Rest assured there is no comparison between the movements: There is no comparison in the reaction of one group to the other. Many of those who embrace the wall street Protestors question the motivation and patriotism and values of the Tea Party. While the Tea-partiers and their ilk recognize and advocate public protest and the right to peacefully assembly. It is as American as "apple pie and fourth of July." Some even are in jobs that defend and protect those rights, such as people in the Armed Forces. They make no attempt to deny the protestors their right to protest or stage alternate protests as liberal groups do. There is no comparison between the events themselves. Tea-partiers are known for getting permits keeping rally areas clean, supporting businesses and people's life style in the area. Whereas the Wall...

There You Go Again Celebrating Alwaki's Death

Last May when our Navy seals killed Ben Laden I got quite a bit of negative reaction and even some Christian admonition to my open celebration on Facebook. People were not as upset with the fact that I celebrated as they were with the fact that I declared it an act of Christian Worship. How could I celebrate that someone was in hell they said? Some people never learn. Here I go again. Last night AL Alwaki and several terrorist leaders were killed in Yemen, and I am rejoicing. I am sure that is going to make many of you uncomfortable and cause you to question my Christian-world view. Am I mixing patriotism with worship and does it show that I place my country above my God,which would be idolatry, and make my worship hypocritical? Well I do not think it does, nor do I think I need to defend my self, but I am going to any way. The gospel is much bigger than the issue of who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. I do not make a judgement about Al-Alwaki's eternal destiny. I leave him the...

March of Dimes or Crimes

The company I work for does most of its charitable giving through March of Dimes. There is all most constant encouragement to contribute. I do not. I silently protest; occasionally' someone asks me why I do not attend one of the company sponsored fund raisers. When I explain that as a pro-life Christian I cannot support the charity, which is the largest single completely privately funded supporter of abortion at all stages of pregnancy, they stare at me like I am some "wild-eye" fanatic. March of Dimes does everything in their power to disguise their true agenda. To the point where their advertising is deceptive. Now let's be clear March of Dimes has a magnanimous history. At the encouragement of President Franklin Roosevelt, who was disabled by polio, a group of philanthropist formed the charity to fight the epidemic that was killing millions and had even paralyzed him. They were an important support and funding channel for Dr. Jonas Salk who eventually developed a ...

Media's Left Wing Bias is now a Certainty

There can be no doubt now that the broadcast media is liberally bias. Remember last week when President Obama signed the guest registry a Westminster Abbey, "Barak Obama, May 28, 2008." The Press made light of it as a "senior moment," as they ignored his campaign gaffe that he had campaigned in all "57 states." I am old enough to remember when Vice President Dan Qualye misspelled potato before a group of student. The man was treated as if was an idiot and unqualified to be Vice President. Remember how Congressman Mark Foley was excoriated and driven out of office when he sent sexually tainted emails to a male page. He became the pariah of the press. Now when a picture of Congressman Anthony Weiner's shows up on a Seattle coeds twit many in the media minimize the situation. Many in the media such as Wolf Blitzer are excusing his non-denial-denials as if no further explanation is needed. Have you ever noticed what happens when a democratic leader get in ...

Celebrating Ben Laden's Death, Is There a Question Here? Here?

I for one am tired of hearing Christian radio debate whether it is appropriate to rejoice at Osama Bin Laden's death. I personally think every church in America should have had a specific offering of Praise to the Father for this victory. The Bible makes it very clear that God appoints government to be arbiters of his wrath. Killing Osama Bin Laden was an act of worship. "Let everyone be subject to governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore, whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive approval, for God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong be afraid, but he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God an avenge who carries out God's wrath on the wrongd...

No Sweet Sound of Amazing Grace Coming From Mars Hill Church

Did you see the recent TIME magazine article announcing the coming of age of Pastor Rob Bell of Michigan's Mars Hill church's? The article says he has come to a new realization of faith. He says has come to realize that the Bible teaches there is no hell. According to the article Bell sees the concept of a God who would send people to hell because they have rejected Christ was an invention of intolerant fundamentalism and shows a convoluted view of God. The prominent evangelical leader, Dr. John Piper, responded, "bye bye Rob Bell". What he meant was Bell's affirmation is nothing more than an abandoning of the faith. He has apostatized. Let me make it very clear: I like and respect Rob Bell. There are few churches in the world that have been as effective at renewing their communities, helping individuals solve their personal crises more than Michigan's Mars Hill Church. Rob Bells video's and books have been especially effective at bring a skeptical gener...
